Robbery Suspect Nabbed for Two-Year Old Crime

PHNOM PENH, September 27, (Khmer Times) – A suspect was arrested on Saturday by Dang Kor district police in cooperation with local police in Kandal province, for a crime he is alleged to have committed two years ago.

Police claim that Oun Makara,31, used physical force and threats to steal money from a female victim who was on her way from the market on February 24, 2012 at around 6:50pm. 

A Dang Kor district police official said, “We arrested him in the Kandal Stung district, in Kandal province on an outstanding warrant issued by Phnom Penh court.”
 
It is claimed that the victim, who is the spouse of a fish vendor, was robbed of around 1,000,000 riel in the incident, before the robber escaped.
 
Police patience paid off however, and the suspect was arrested and charged with robbery under aggravating circumstances resulting from violence. He is currently detained at Dang Kor district police station while police prepare documents to be presented in court.
