Chengdu offers 144-hour visa-free transit

CHENGDU (Xinhua) – Chengdu in southwest China is preparing to offer 144-hour visa-free transit to the holders of certain foreign passports as part of the city’s plan to boost Chengdu’s development as an international destination for tourists. The municipal government,which has submitted a request to China’s State Council for approval, say it also plans to expand the list of countries allowed 72-hour visa-free transit. Currently, there are 51 countries that enjoy the benefit in Chengdu, provided foreign travelers from these countries hold a visa and ticket for their destination country.
