Pakistan on red alert for general elections

ISLAMABAD (Xinhua) – Pakistan will deploy 800,000 security personnel to maintain security during the general elections on July 25 when voters will go to polls to elect representatives for the National Assembly, lower house of the parliament, and four provincial assemblies. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said security has been enhanced for political leaders and election rallies following a series of bomb attacks on gatherings which killed nearly over 170 people.
