Bag Factory Warehouse in Flames

PHNOM PENH, September 3, (Khmer Times) – New Pex Co,LTD,  a bag manufacturer located at the Vattanac Industrial Park 2 at Krang Pong Ro commune, Dang Kor district was destroyed by flames late last night.
 
About 30 percent of building was destroyed by flaming which is believed to have started at about 20.15 last night and extinguished slightly more than hour later.
 
Chief fire office of Phnom Penh Prom Yorn said that eleven fire engines from Fire Station of the Phnom Penh Police Department, four from the 711-th department of Brigade 70, and one from Royal Gendarmerie of Phnom Penh were there to put out the fire.
 
He added that the cause of the factory fire could not ascertained yet, pending investigations.
 
The Chief of Administration  at the factory,  Suorng Piseth said, “I estimate that  the  damage caused by the fire could amount to approximately  $500,000. This figure does not  include the building, as the fire destroyed the warehouse portion of the factory which  stored raw materials and accessories for producing  bags. About 5 containers of finished  products were also destroyed”.  
 
He added that the material  that was  stored in the warehouse was very expensive as it was high grade. 
 
Mr. Piseth said that the factory is owned by Mr. Joe Hyun Sook who is a South Korean.
