The first iteration of the Social Hub Market launched on Saturday, bringing together a plethora of social enterprises to create an offer of high-quality, locally-made products for those who want their buck to support a worthy cause.
The new marketplace gives the capital’s social enterprises the opportunity to take the stage, showcase their products and cooperate with other organisations to maximise their impact on Cambodian communities.
Gevorg Babayan, the regional operations manager of Envoy Hotel and Tours, the company in charge of the initiative, told Khmer Times that the Social Hub Market will support a range of vulnerable segments of Cambodian society and aims to be a bridge between Cambodian communities and travellers in Phnom Penh.
There are now 11 companies participating as vendors, including Amboh Espadrille, Angkor Bullet Jewelry, Smart Crafts and Samros Soap.
Mr Babayan said they intend to hold this event regularly, with the next edition already scheduled for January.
“We will make some changes in our roster to make sure we provide opportunities to more NGOs. We will increase our promotions and hope the next one will be visited by many more travellers and expats.”
