The owner of a massage parlour in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district was arrested on Wednesday afternoon for offering illegal prostitution services in her shop.

Sok Kimhour, an officer with the municipal anti-human trafficking unit, identified the suspect as Hong Leap, 45.

She was apprehended after police raided the 168 massage shop in Kraing Thnuong commune.

“She allowed the masseuses to have sex with clients for between $20 and $30,” he said. “She took $5 from each transaction as commission.”

“When police raided the shop, two masseuses were having sex with clients,” he added.

He said police found three underage sex workers at the shop, as well as a log book of clients, and condoms.

The suspect was preliminarily accused of procurement under aggravating circumstances and faces seven to 15 years in prison if convicted.

She has been detained and will appear at the municipal court for questioning today.

The three masseuses have been sent to municipal rehabilitation for education.
