A 25-year-old construction manager has been arrested for allegedly murdering his eight-months pregnant wife by pushing her from the 11th floor of a construction site.
The alleged murder took place Thursday at about 5.30pm in Tuol Tum Poung II commune.
Chamkarmon district police officer Ly Sophal said the husband, Bun Oun, was sent to the municipal court for questioning on Friday.
Mr Sophal said Mr Oun lived at the site. His wife, Long Nhan, 25, worked as a cook and cleaner with her husband’s construction company, and stayed with him there.
Witnesses said Ms Nahn was seen taking the elevator to the 11th floor of the building on the day of her death to meet her husband, who was working on that floor.
Witnesses said they argued. Ms Nahn was later found dead, having fallen from the 11th floor.
Mr Sophal said Mr Oun was arrested on suspicion that he pushed his wife in anger during the argument.
“Police suspect him of intentionally murdering his wife. If convicted he would face 10 to 15 years in prison.”
Mr Oun has denied all accusations during questioning in police custody. He said he did not push her, and wasn’t aware of her death.
