PHNOM PENH, August 18, (Khmer Times) – The bipartisan work group to form the new NEC organizational regulations met today.
Bin Chhin, lead representative of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), said that both parties had agreed on a framework for the new law.
This week they will write the first draft of the proposed changes to the law and renew the panel discussion on Aug.25, after deliberations.
Mr.Kuoy Bunroeun, lead representative of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), clarified that if both parties agree on the measures that they are debating, it will mean a “new chapter” in the constitution.
The eight chapters that comprise the NEC regulations will be written into the constitution, although he did not elaborate as to their content.
Both the CPP and CNRP are represented by eight members in the discussions to determine the organization and functionality of the NEC.
