PHNOM PENH, August 18, (Khmer Times) – Prime Minister Hun Sen called on the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to change the date of the beginning of the new academic year and have to posted it in the national calendar.
He said this at the National Strategy for Food Security and Nutrition 2014-2018 workshop.
Hun Sen said that the change is necessary because many schools are still flooded, as they are almost every year on October 1. It is, therefore, important to change the date of the opening of the schools toward end of October or early November.
The new date must not collide with national festivals such as the Water Festival.
Study curricula will still be of the same duration – nine months. They will just start later in the year.
