Two Mother Nature activists charged with incitement to commit a felony and violation of privacy have been denied bail by Koh Kong provincial court.
Sam Chamroeun, a lawyer for Dearm Kundy, 22, and Hun Vanak, 36, said bail was refused on Friday, but he had suggested taking the case to the Appeal Court.
The pair were charged last month after police detained them as they filmed alleged sand dredging in Koh Kong province.
Mother Nature later closed after asking the Interior Ministry to revoke its licence, because the NGO’s members said it could no longer continue its operations.
Mr Chamroeun said the end of Mother Nature operations would not affect the case and he would still defend the pair.
Last month, Mother Nature posted a video report saying that Cambodia and Taiwan had reported conflicting figures relating to exports of silica sand to Taiwan.
