City Hall Announces Measures to Reduce Traffic Chaos

PHNOM PENH, August 16, (Khmer Times) – City Hall will adopt a five point plan which authorities believe will alleviate the city’s traffic congestion problems and reduce traffic jams. 
 
Spokesman for City Hall Long Dimanche said, “First, City Hall will expand the traffic lights and traffic signs and second, expand the public transport (city buses).”
 
“Third, we will also provide more education for people to respect the law and traffic signs.” 
 
Mr. Dimanche added that the fourth important measure would be to prohibit heavy vehicles across four districts in central Phnom Penh during noon. 
“Finally we will construct more infrastructure such as the Sky Bridge and underground thoroughfares to reduce traffic jams.”
