Much of the country could face flooding due to heavy rainfall until Wednesday, the Water Resources and Meteorology Ministry has warned.

According to a ministry announcement yesterday, the country will be affected by a low pressure system that will cause heavy rainfall nationwide.

“From September 27 until October 3, the kingdom will be affected by a low pressure system that will bring rain across the country and could cause flooding,” the announcement said.

The areas most affected include: Phnom Penh, Kampong Speu, Kandal, Takeo, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Preah Vihear, Oddor Meanchey, Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmom and Kratie.

“These provinces will face flooding,” it said, adding that coastal areas will also be hit by heavy rainfall and large waves.

“Fishermen and boat passengers should be careful during these days in order to avoid accidents,” the announcement said.
