Asian Cross Country Rally ends in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH, August 15, (Khmer Times) — This afternoon the 2014
 
Asian Cross Country Rally ended on the corner of Sotheros and Sihanouk Boulevard.
 
It was not an untimely end, because the participants started in Pattaya a week ago.
 
On August 9 the 291 international rallyists, in their 58 automobiles and on 16 motorcycles, heard the start gun in Pattaya, Thailand. Three days later they crossed the border to Cambodia at Poipet.
 
One night was spent in the Hotel City Angkor,in Siem Reap.  The following day took them to Battambang — for a good night’s sleep at the Sangker River Hotel.
 
The next morning they rose early to ride the asphalt snake to the Cambodiana in Phnom Penh.
 
The last day of the rally, Aug.15, was a liesurely one. A few driving-ability tests and then lunch.
 
In the afternoon the participants gathered at the corner of Sotheros and Sihanouk Boulevard to receive their awards.
 
The divers came from all over the world: Japan, Thailand, Korea, the Netherlands, Sweden, among them three bikers and one automobilist
from Cambodia.
