The government has ordered all museums, cinemas and theatres in Phnom Penh capital and Kandal province to be shut down for two weeks to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

The closure was announced this morning by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, adding that it takes effect immediately.

The move was made after the outbreak of community transmission so-called Feb. 20 Community Event.

At the same time, all public and private schools as well as technical and vocational training schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal also have to be closed for two weeks, and online teaching and learning will replace the in-class ones during the suspension period.

As of this morning, Cambodia reported 593 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 99 are connected to the Feb. 20 Community Event. A total of 475 patients have successfully recovered with no fatal case. Lim Nary – AKP
