The Ministry of Health announced yesterday that the delivery of the Sinopharm vaccine promised by China to Cambodia will actually number just 300,000 doses and not the 600,000 previously announced.
The shipment, which will also include 300,000 syringes is scheduled to arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport on February 7.
The Ministry has also announced that vaccinations will be directed to priority groups members between the ages of 18 and 59 for priority groups. It added that the prime minister will forgo his scheduled injection as he does not meet the age group recommendation for this phase of inoculations.
The Ministry of Health has also issued a press release confirming the discovery of two new COVID- 19 cases and that one patient has recovered and been allowed out from the hospital.
The cases include a 31-year-old Indonesian man who resides in Tonle Bassac commune, Chamkar Mon district, Phnom Penh, who was an incoming passenger from Indonesia via Singapore on January 23, 2021.
The other, a 50-year-old Cambodian woman, who lives in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, was a passenger returning from Switzerland via Singapore on February 4, 2021.
To date, Cambodia has detected a total of 472 cases of COVID-19. Of this total, 453 patients have been cured with 19 patients remaining hospitalized.
