The United States Embassy opened its third education centre on Monday, at the Siem Reap campus of Paññāsāstra University (PUC), to assist high school students enroll in US universities.
The centre offers free instruction, advice and resources for students hoping to study in the US. Students can receive assistance when applying for scholarships, choosing a major and successfully passing the student visa interview at the US Embassy.
Director of PUC Siem Reap Samlei Chhoun will serve as the advisor of the centre, which will also offer free computer and internet access as well as books to help with test preparation.
“I like to see our Cambodian students study in the US. That’s the reason I accepted this work. I hope I can give more options to people, especially students in Siem Reap and the surrounding provinces,” he said.
US Embassy spokesman Chad Roedemeir said the aim of the centre was to help students outside of Phnom Penh study in the US.
