Cambodia has attended a signing ceremony of the protocol to amend the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Tourism.
The signing ceremony of the protocol took place today in Bangkok under the chairmanship of H.E. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand.
Commercial Attaché Mr. Heng Sovannarith representing Cambodian Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Ouk Sorphorn, and representatives of ASEAN countries’ embassies to Bangkok participated in the event.
The ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement was signed in 2012 by the ASEAN member states to facilitate mobility of tourism professionals (TP), exchange information on best practices in competency-based education and training for TP, and provide opportunities for cooperation and capacity building across the region.
The revised agreement will enable 32 jobs titles from two sectors including Hotel Services and Travel Services to be recognised regionally.
The manual also covers Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) and event professionals as well as other tourism-related areas.
It is expected to increase more competitiveness of the TP and the MICE industries and promote free trade in tourism and MICE services in the region. Lim Nary – AKP
