More than 3,400 migrant workers have reportedly come through Cambodian-Thai border checkpoints in the past week amid COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand.

General Keo Vanthorn, General Department of Immigration spokesman, said that immigration officials at the border checkpoints have worked closely with the Ministry of Health to monitor migrant workers crossing the border.

“There are 3,455 migrant workers from Thailand,” Gen Vanthorn said, adding that the workers began crossing the border since December 20.

The Health Ministry reported this morning the migrant worker COVID-19 cluster increased to 17, bringing total positive cases to 382.

This includes a migrant worker woman from Pailin province who tested positive on Sunday after returning from Thailand.
