Cambodian-Vietnamese border has been tightened as a new coronavirus variant was detected in Vietnam, with anyone entering the Kingdom to be quarantined.

Ros Pharith, deputy governor of Svay Rieng province, said today regarding travel restrictions on the Cambodian Vietnam border, authorities have implemented strict measures to prevent illegal crossing of Cambodian and Vietnamese migrant workers.

“We have tightened the border since COVID-19 outbreak in Cambodia and at the border, if people are coming in and out, we need to have them quarantined for 14 days,” Pharith said.

The Ministry of Health announced this morning that two migrant workers tested positive for the virus after returning to Cambodia from Thailand, bringing the country’s total infections to 381.
