Prime Minister Hun Sen has called on countries within the framework of the Ayeyarwaddy-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation (ACMECS) to share their experiences on sourcing of COVID-19 vaccine.
His remark was made at the 9th ACMECS Summit under the theme “Partnership for Connectivity and Resilience” via videoconference chaired by Cambodia.
The Kingdom also announced it will contribute $7 million for the ACMECS development fund in a bid to accelerate the implementation of development projects in the region and to fuel the economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 pandemic.
Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, said today Mr Hun Sen told ACMECS leaders that Cambodia plans to purchase one million doses of vaccine for the first phase and the next one will be for use among 10 million Cambodian people.
Kim Hourn said ACMECS leaders also adopted the terms of reference for its funds, and the list of its priority projects.
Lao will take over a two-year ACMECS chairmanship.
