The Royal Government has provided favorable conditions to all those concerned with the family of a senior official at the Ministry of Interior infected with the COVID-19 to do tests and conduct strict and proper quarantine.

According to a voice clip of Prime Minister Hun Sen shared Sunday night, the tests and quarantine are free of charge.

“As of this evening (Sunday), eight people have been confirmed to be infected with the virus from the event. I would like to encourage and continue to appeal to all people not to get into panic of this community transmission, and not to worry about the spending as the tests and quarantine at the centres arranged by the Ministry of Health are under the Royal Government’s charge,” he underlined.

At the recommendation of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and Phnom Penh Municipal Hall announced the use of Phnom Penh Hotel as a quarantine centre for those who have no possibility to conduct their self-quarantine, according to Ms Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health.

Mr Hun Sen pointed out that as of Sunday evening, the specimens of more than 3,000 concerned people have been taken for testing.

Besides, the Premier announced to give the right to ministers to manage their officials whether to work from home or to come into the office, and to the municipal and provincial governors to temporarily shut down any restaurants related to the COVID-19 infection, as well as to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) to provisionally close down any suspected schools.

MoEYs has just issued two separate directives over the end of 2019-2020 academic year for all public schools on Nov. 30 and the temporary shutdown of all private schools for two weeks starting from today, while the lower secondary school and high school exams will take place as scheduled – on Nov. 30 and on Dec. 21, respectively.
