The government has reordered the temporary closure of gyms and fitness centres across the country to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This announcement was made by the Minister of TourismThoung Khon in a directive dated November 11, obtained by Khmer Times.
“To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Tourism requests all gyms and gym club businesses, both inside and outside of hotels, to halt their operations temporarily until further notice,” the directive said.
This is the latest move by the government to contain the second wave of the virus after the “November 3 incident”.
This is also the second time the government has shut down gyms as a preventionary measure against COVID-19, with the first shuttering enacted in April.
To date, Cambodia has recorded 301 cases of the coronavirus, of which 289 have recovered, or 96.01 percent of the total confirmed.
