Prime Minister Hun Sen this evening paid a visit to the flood-affected areas in Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.
The visit is aimed to visit the affected people and inspect the rescue and evacuation activities.
Since the beginning of the floods, Mr Hun Sen has alerted many times the competent authorities at all levels and his compatriots to pay high attention to flash floods.
At the same time, the Premier is also raising funds for emergency response during this hard time of flash floods. As of this afternoon, at 4:50, the total funds raised reached $5,963,000 and 204 million Riel.
A report of the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) shows that from Sept. 1 to the morning of Oct. 15, 2020, the ongoing flash floods have affected 19 capital and provinces across the country, killing 13 people and leaving ten thousands others homeless.
Competent authorities at all levels have been actively taking measure to timely assisting the affected people so as to reduce to the maximum the difficulties and the impact on people’s properties and lives.
According to a new weather forecast released today by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Cambodia would experience more heavy rain between Oct. 17 and 19. The ministry also appealed to the public, particularly those living in the lowland areas near waterways, next to the mountainous areas, to increase their vigilance to avoid any possible accidents.
