The year 2020 marks the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Seventy-one years ago, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people united as one, forged ahead in a pioneering spirit. We moved from isolation and backwardness to openness and progress, from lack of adequate food and clothing to moderate prosperity in all respects, and from poverty and weakness to prosperity and strength.
Over the past 71 years, China has grown from a backward agricultural country to the world’s second largest economy, the world’s largest industrial country, the world’s largest trading nation in goods and the world’s largest foreign exchange reserve. China’s overall national strength has risen substantially. China’s economic aggregate has increased from us $30 billion at the beginning of the founding of the People’s Republic of China to US $14.34 trillion in 2019, and its per capita GDP has increased from US $27 to over US $10,000. As the investment environment continues to improve, China has been the world’s second largest recipient of foreign investment for three years. The number of Chinese companies on the 2020 Fortune Global 500 has topped the list for the second year.
China’s progress not only develops itself, but also contributes to the world. China is committed to contributing wisdom and solutions to the building of a community with a Shared future for mankind. Guided by the principle of equality and mutual respect, and the goal of mutual benefit and win-win results, China has focused on connectivity, continued opening-up and deepened practical results in the spirit of extensive consultation, joint contribution and Shared benefits. Today, the One Belt And One Road initiative put forward by President xi jinping has become a calling card. More than 160 countries and international organizations have joined the joint efforts to embark on a new journey of high-quality development and share the road to opportunities and prosperity.
The year 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership and the first anniversary of the signing of the Action plan of China-Cambodia community of Shared Future. The comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries has been continuously deepened. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China and Cambodia have been helping each other in times of difficulty, which fully demonstrates the special and profound traditional friendship between two countries. In July 2020, as the two countries announce the conclusion of negotiations on a free trade agreement, they will further open up bilateral trade and promote investment, which will inject new impetus into the joint efforts of the two countries to build a One Belt And One Road and a China-Cambodia community of Shared future.
