More than 1,600 families affected by floods in Pursat province

Torrential rain has caused flooding in Pursat province, affecting at least 1,635 families in Veal Veng, Phnom Kravanh and Kandieng districts.

Pursat provincial administration said today more than 180 families have been evacuated to higher grounds due to flash floods, with more than 600 hectares of crops inundated.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology yesterday urged people living in coastal areas and along the Dangrek mountain range and plateau areas to be vigilant ahead of upcoming storms due between Thursday and September 27.
