A devastating flood hit Sihanoukville’s Prey Nob District after a heavy storm yesterday, damaging houses and taking at least one life.

According to the authorities the storm developed around midnight and quickly raised water levels in the area due to heavy rain.

A one-year-old girl is reported to have drowned in the flooding, with her body discovered this morning about 300 metres from her house.

Shocking pictures of rising water in villages and inside people’s houses have been posted on social media from people in the area.

Authorities say they are now working to minimise the damage and protect the people.

Access to the flooded areas has also been halted.
