More than 130 peacekeepers return home from UN mission

At least 139 Cambodian peacekeepers returned home from Mali yesterday night after completing their UN missions.

Lieutenant General Ouk Sieng, deputy director of the National Center for Peacekeeping Forces, said today 139 blue helmets, including 11 women, arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport yesterday night after completing a one-year UN peacekeeping mission in Mali.

Lt Gen Sieng said that 45 of them have been placed in a 14-day quarantine at the Peacekeeping Forces Training Institute in Kampong Speu province’s Odong district and 94 other being quarantined at the training school for multinational peacekeeping forces in Phnom Sruoch district.

On September 11, 218 peacekeepers were dispatched to Mali to join the United Nation peacekeeping mission.
