The draft of Siem Reap tourism development master plan for 2020-2035 will be finalised in October this year, and submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval.
The Siem Reap Tourism Development Master Plan 2020-2035 is expected to be the key mechanism to reply to the current and future situation, to the impact caused by COVID-19 pandemic, particularly to achieve the government’s goal considering ‘tourism sector as green gold’.
“The vision of Siem Reap Tourism Development Master Plan 2020-2035 is to regain the pride as the main tourism destination of Cambodia’s tourism sector and a main tourism destination in the Southeast Asian region,” said a press release of Ministry of Economy and Finance issued after a consultative meeting of the National Tourism Development Committee (NTDC) to discuss the draft master plan.
The meeting took place here on Sept. 7 under the chairmanship of Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance and Chairman of NTDC, with the participation of Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, Ms. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, Say Samal, Minister of Environment, and members of the above-said committee.
NTDC will hold another meeting in October to finalise the draft master plan before submitting it to Prime Minister Hun Sen for approval.
