Mushroom is one of non-timber forest products in the rosewood forest area in Siem Reap province allowing both lucrative business and food supply for the locals.

The update was provided by Mr Seng Lorn, Chief of Kantuot Khnar Krao Forest Administration Cantonment, adding that some sorts of mushrooms were grown since July.

Authorised people, continued Mr. Seng Lorn, can enter that area to harvest the mushrooms and other vegetables, and they will also be protected by the forest rangers.

People can collect from 5 to 10 kilogrammes of mushrooms each day depending on the amount of rainfall, and the mushrooms cost about $5 a kilogramme, he added. Lim Nary – AKP
