Ministry of Cults and Religion yesterday instructed all pagodas in Cambodia to stop using personalised number plates for vehicles.
The announcement was made after they found out many pagodas are using the pagoda’s name as their vehicle number plate which violates the laws of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
“There have been cases of the name of the pagoda being used as the vehicle number plate that is contrary to Sub-Decree 73, which prohibits the use of such plates, as it is not issued by the Ministry of Transport and Public Works,” said the statement signed by the Cults Minister Chhit Sokhon.
The Ministry of Cult has instructed the management of all pagodas across the country to change their vehicle number plates immediately to adhere to the traffic laws of Cambodia.
