Ministry of Health today issued a statement with guidelines that the public has to follow to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during the substitute holidays to be held in August.
It said, “Many people will most likely travel and hold family reunions during the holidays. Although Cambodia hasn’t reported the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the virus is still continuing to spread to many countries in the region and the world.
To date, the positive cases of COVID-19 reported in the Kingdom have been imported cases of passengers traveling here. This is a reminder the virus still exists.”
To avoid being infected or spreading the virus, the Ministry of Health said the public should do individual trips instead of traveling in groups. They should at all costs avoid crowded places.
It added people when traveling, they must make sure they do so in small numbers and always wear a mask.
The Ministry also reminded the public to keep practicing social distancing and maintain good hygiene to ensure there is no second wave of COVID-19 in the Kingdom during the holidays.
The Cambodia government has set five days of the suspended Khmer New Year holidays originally in April to next month. It will be held from August 17 to 21.
