Nearly 50 garment workers of Hana (Cambodia) 1 Inc in Por Senchey district came to Prime Minister Hun Sen’s residence in Daun Penh district this morning, asking him to intervene.
Chet Tra, a worker, said that they came to Mr Hun Sen’s house this morning after their negotiation with the company and government officials failed to offer them due payments after their factory closure.
“We ask Prime Minister Hun Sen to intervene in our case because the company has yet to pay us in two points,” she said.
On June 23, Hana garment factory announced an immediate closure of its business operation and promised to pay employees in line with legal procedure.
Hana workers demanded they be paid last month’s working salary, payments in lieu of unused annual leave, seniority indemnity, compensation and damages.
The workers claimed that the company only agreed to pay them last month’s salary, payment in lieu of unused annual leave and seniority indemnity.
