In need of the perfect spot to impress your date? Or perhaps to celebrate with your loved ones? Or maybe you’re on the lookout of the ideal place where you can treat yourself after yet another dreadful month? Fret not because GT2 has found the next best destination where not just an ambience of conviviality and gaiety is guaranteed but also a variety of mouthwatering cuisine.

Located at the centre of BKK1, Penh 278 is a must-try in the long list of eatery spots in the capital. This sweet gem in the bustling city will impress you with what it has to offer – savoury dishes, great service and hospitality and remarkable interior design.

From the moment you step foot into the restaurant, the space, slightly dimmed by pendant light bulbs, offers an atmosphere that reels you to be in the mood for love. Often visited by residents nearby, Penh 278 has a two-storey dining area and a patio which can readily accommodate customers.

Offering the finest selection of Western dishes, the restaurant did not disappoint. From appetizers to desserts, all dishes at Penh 278 score with a 10-on-10 presentation with their taste on point and worth every dollar spent! Main dishes come at a reasonable price ranging from $2.50 to less than $16. With cocktails and selection of wines available to order, the bar serves its famous Chili Passion ($6), a sweet passion fruit served with vodka and chilli flakes for a spicy kick.

While you might have trouble choosing ‘à la carte’, you can definitely count on the waiter for recommendations. The menu is perfect to share for love birds; we recommend Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese with Dill Crostini ($5) or greedy Lemon Garlic Prawn Skewers ($6.50) for a starter.

The highlight of the meal is definitely the Lamb Shank ($14.75); the slowly cooked meat melts tenderly into your mouth. With broccoli, carrots, Kampot green pepper, gravy and red wine on the side, the fusion is simply heaven. As recommended by the waiter, the place’s most-ordered dish is the Penh Pizza ($10) topped with mozzarella, salami and spinach.

Aside from their remarkable service and offerings, the restaurant also deserves praise for the way it has helped locals during the pandemic. Penh 278 has partnered with the Eat2Donate programme to provide support for those who have either been rendered unemployed due to the pandemic or are bravely fighting the virus as frontliners in Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital. Donations for the cause can be given at any time for only $2.75, with proceeds used for the provision of a daily meal to its recipients.

Penh 278 is located in an alley of BKK1 #10, Street 278 and is open from 7.30am to 11pm from Monday to Sunday. For reservations, dial 016 24 95 08.
