Cheuy Vichet, the Cambodian Ambassador to Malaysia, distributed food kits to Cambodians in several states in Malaysia.

The embassy has offered food to more than 2,000 Cambodian families in Malaysia since April.

In addition to Johor, distributions have taken place in Kuala Lumpur and the states of Selangor, Pahang, Perak and Kelantan.

The Embassy is said to be still attempting to repatriate at least 150 Cambodians stranded in Malaysia to Cambodia but are unable to mount a flight due to absence of flights as well as failure to secure aid to charter the flight after the Cambodian Government had asked their citizens to stay put wherever they were to contain the pandemic.

Khmer Times understands that a local tycoon in Cambodia had reportedly agreed to foot the expense and the process of arranging the flight is now in motion awaiting clearance from different channels in both Malaysia and Cambodia. AKP
