Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged the public, especially the youth, to engage in vocational training as it will open more opportunities for employment. His remarks came ahead of the 3rd National TVET Day on June 15.

In a letter, Mr Hun Sen called on the public and private sector, as well as developing partners, to continue promoting and advancing vocational education and training among Cambodian people. Among his six plans for better TVET development is to encourage more people to choose TVET as the country works toward adapting to the new paradigm of Industry 4.0.

He said: “[We should] continue to encourage and increase the enrollment of students in technical and vocational courses so they can gain skills and good work ethic, which will determine the competitiveness of present and future employment opportunities.”

This year’s National TVET Day is themed “TVET makes life better”. Due to COVID-19, the government has moved the celebration online by working on producing digital content to raise public awareness about the significance of TVET.
