The residence of the late legendary architect Vann Molyvann is up for sale according to a local real estate company’s Facebook post.
IPS Cambodia, a Phnom Penh-based property company has listed the residential home designed by Mr Molyvann on Mao Tse Toung Boulevard. He built this as his family home and it incorporates many architectural features he pioneered. Selling price is $7 million.
Ms Nop Malay, IPS Cambodia Branch Manager, confirmed the iconic house of “The Man who Built Cambodia”, is being put up for sale by her company. “The house is currently rented out to a company as its office premise,” she said. She didn’t divulge any further details.
Mr Vann Molyvann passed away in September 2017 at the age of 90. He built the house in 1966 with the money he earned from private commissions. His house incorporates “Khmer Architecture” which he pioneered including a double roof that can be seen on many of his buildings he designed.
Unfortunately, his stay there with his family was short-lived. They moved to Switzerland in 1971 to escape the civil war.
