The Ministry of Justice announced today it has set up two hotlines to receive further enquiries from the public concerning unsolved cases at municipal courts across Cambodia.

The Ministry on its website posted that people can contact them directly to enquire about their cases held up in the lower courts in Phnom Penh and other cities including provinces via these numbers 017 609 960 and 078 567 810.

This comes after the announcement by the newly appointed Justice Minister Keut Rith earlier this week of a six-months campaign to resolve the backlog of nearly 40,000 court cases

According to the ministry, there are 39,152 criminal cases, including 6,260 drug cases, 6,693 with prosecutors, 20,747 with investigating judges and 11,712 with trial judges which are all held up in the courts.
