As all sectors in the Kingdom reel from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, everyone struggles to hold on to withstand the situation. In response, the RHB yesterday extended a helping hand to their fellow Cambodians in Kandal province’s Kien Svay Knong pagoda, with the help of its abbot, the Venerable Voeun.
The aid was received by 40 families, whose breadwinners were recently furloughed from the country’s hardest-hit textile and garment industry. Of them, only 10 were called back to work yesterday. With all of them grappling with the times, smiles and words of gratitude rang through the pagoda as they received the much-needed aid from the fully integrated financial services group.
“We invited 40 families who are suffering from financial hardship to receive aid from us. Each family received 160,000 riels in cash, masks, sanitising gels and food supplies, such as 15 kilogrammes of rice, 10 kilogrammes of salt and sugar, two boxes of instant noodles, two packs of canned goods, five litres of cooking oil, one pack of fish sauce and bottled soy sauce,” said the head of Business Banking for the RHB Indochina Bank Ltd, Leng Sok.
“These gifts will ease their hardship for a while. We would like to wish you [the families] good luck. We hope you will be able to get back on your feet soon and find new jobs,” he added.
The recent humanitarian event follows the RHB’s charity work last Tuesday which involved granting support to another 40 families in the capital’s Hospital Beyond Boundaries.
The RHB Group is the fourth largest financial institution in Malaysia. The core of RHB’s businesses are streamlined into three main pillars, namely: Group Retail and Commercial Banking, Group International Business and Group Corporate and Investment Banking.
These three are being operated through main subsidiaries including RHB Bank Berhad, RHB Investment Bank Berhad, RHB Insurance and RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, while the trustworthy asset and business management is handled by RHB Asset Management Sdn. RHB has been operating in eight countries: Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
It is the desire of the RHB Group to continue providing excellent services to its clients, give benefits to shareholders and be recognised as a leading multinational financial services group.
RHB also extended their appreciation to Ven Voeun who welcomed and allowed the team to hold the charity event for the 40 families inside the pagoda.
