Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Saturday charged and jailed May Tola, former acting secretary general of the Football Federation of Cambodia accused of embezzling more than $50,000 between 2013 and 2019.

Court spokesman Kuch Kimlong said yesterday Tola was charged with “breach of special trust of administrator or other persons” under Article 293 of the Criminal Code. If found guilty, he faces two to five years in prison.

Colonel Kong Sopharin, chief of the Criminal Offence Research Office at the National Military Police, said Tola was apprehended on Thursday following a complaint by National Military Police Chief General Sao Sokha, who is also the FFC president.
