Dr. Peter Studer, chief executive officer of the Kantha Bopha Foundation (Switzerland) passed away on Wednesday at the age of 73 years old due to illness.
Mr Peter spent 28 years working for the Cambodian sick children at Kantha Bopha Hospital.
Mam Bunheang, the Minister of Health sent a letter of condolence this morning to Mr Petter’s family expressing his sympathies.
Dr Bunheang noted, the death of Mr Peter is a huge loss of a great doctor who had worked for Cambodia’s health sector in rescuing Cambodian childrens’ lives.
The family of Dr. Peter is holding a ceremony in Switzerland.
To pay respect to his work here in the Kingdom, dedicated staff and medical colleagues held a memorial in Jayavarman VII Hospital in Siem Reap province this morning.
Kantha Bopha is a childrens’ hospital in Cambodia which provides free-of-charge medical treatment for Cambodian children coming from financially challenged families since 1992. Founded by Dr Beat Richner, the hospital has three branches in Cambodia, two of them in Phnom Penh and one in Siem Reap province.
After the death of Dr Beat in 2018, most of the logistics and management of the Kantha Bopha was handed over to Dr Peter before he got into seriously ill in late 2019.
