About 400 footwear workers of KUN DA factory protested Tuesday in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district to demand the company to pay them missing wages and seniority.

Chhin Vanna, one of the protestors, said that the factory suspended its operation at the end of last month.

She said that the employer has failed to show up and paid workers.

“Our employer has fled. No one has come to find solution related to our seniority pay,” she said.

GMAC released a statement yesterday saying that now 80 factories have suspended their operation, with 60 more in the pipeline, which is wreaking havoc on more than 150,000 workers.
