The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration today temporarily closed public city bus and water-taxi service linking the northern part of Phnom Penh to Takhmao city in Kandal province via the Mekong River amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
In a letter issued today, Phnom Penh governor Khuong Sreng said that global and local pandemic of COVID-19 is of great concern.
“In order to join the government and the Ministry of Health to stem the infection and outbreak of the COVID-19 in Phnom Penh, the City Hall administration has decided to temporarily close the city bus and taxi-boat service from [today] until the situation improves,” he said.
Mr Sreng also called on the people to join the authorities to prevent the outbreak.
According to the Health Ministry, there are 13 cases of COVID-19 in Phnom Penh, of whom three have fully recovered.
