National Assembly approves Royal Group’s 700 MW coal-fired power plant project

The National Assembly this morning (March 26) discussed and approved Royal Investment Group’s proposed investment in the construction of a 700mw coal-fired power PLANT AI Botom Sakor district, Koh Kong province.

The coal-fired power project was approved in a meeting of the Council of the Ministers held on Feb 7.

The  700 MW power plant, by company, when completed, contribute significantly towards the national power grid. It is  scheduled to generate power by 2024

Another coal powered power plant also approved at the sitting is a  265 mW coal-fired power plant to be invested in by Han Seng Coal Mines Co Ltd.

It is located in Trapang Prasat district, Oddor Meanchey province, and is scheduled to generate power in 2022.

The parliament plenary session also discussed a 230 kilovolt transmission line development project, linking the coal-fired power plant in Oddor Meanchey province to the sub-power station in Siem Reap province.
