Six Cambodians who have been stranded in Malaysia amid the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in Phnom Penh this evening.
They took a Malaysian Airline aircraft that landed this evening at the Phnom Penh International Airport.
Two of them are students who studied in Malaysia and two others were tourists who had transited in Malaysia after returning from South Africa.
Upon his arrival in Phnom Penh, Try Panha, said that he and his friend were stranded in Malaysia due to the lockdown.
“I was stranded due to the lockdown,” he said, adding that the Cambodian Ambassador to Malaysia visited him and his friend at their homestay.
“They were nice to us,” he said.
The four are being quarantined at Chak Angre Krom Health Centre in Phnom Penh.
Health Ministry spokesman Ly Sovann said that the preventive measure must be taken to stem the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is our job to apply the preventive measure to stem the spread,” he added.
