The Cambodia-Vietnam senior officials unanimously approved four main measures to facilitate cross-border trade between Cambodia and Vietnam, responding to the outbreak of Covid-19.

A bilateral Meeting was held between the Cambodian side, co-chaired by Kun Nhim, director-general of the General Department of Customs and Excise, Men Vibol, the governor of Svay Rieng Province, accompanied by the relevant authorities of Bavet International Border Gate along with the Cambodia Freight Forwarders Association and Vietnamese counterparts headed by Tay Ninh’s vice-governor and the department of customs and relevant officials of the international border gate of Moc Bai.

Both parties agreed to let trucks reach the white zone and change the driver and/or the trailer head, allowing trucks to reach the White Zone and transferring goods or containers from one vehicle to another and allowing trucks from the Vietnamese side to approach any dry dock near the border to transfer goods and to be able to carry goods exported from Cambodia, requiring the driver to wear a legally authorised virus protection suit.

Both parties also asked the relevant authorities in Cambodia to cooperate to ensure that drivers do not go off the wrong side of the road and approach each other.

To resolve the blockade on the border, the two sides decided to allow immediate action and the relevant authorities agreed to facilitate the operation until 10 pm. The options will be applied to every corner of the border in Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province and it was agreed to continue cooperating in resolving future challenges.
