Preah Sihanouk provincial hall said that 666 out of 2,200 passengers on board Holland America-owned MS Westerdam cruise ship which is docked at Sihanouville today are US citizens.
It was on a 14-day Taiwan and Japan cruise that departed Hong Kong on February 1 with 1,455 guests and 802 crew members on board.
Preah Sihanouk provincial hall spokesman Kheang Phearom said there are total of 666 US citizens, including 651 passengers and 15 crew.
“There are 1,455 passengers with 41 nationalities,” Mr Phearom said.
He noted that there are 271 Canadians, 127 British, 91 Dutch, 79 Australians, 57 Germans and other nationals.
According to immigration police report, there are 802 crew: 362 Indonesian, 260 Filipino, 24 Dutch, 23 Indian and other.
US Ambassador to Cambodia Patrick Murphy also tweeted that US citizens are among passengers on the MS Westerdam and thanked the Kingdom for help.
