The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism has called on business owners in tourism sector to cooperate in making the country a smoke-free zone.
The appeal was made in a workshop in Kampong Speu province, where an award ceremony was held to acknowledge outstanding business owners –hotels and restaurants– for their smoke-free environment practices.
Under Secretary of State for Tourism Hor Sarun said that such workshop had been conducted in different provinces to promote the smoke-free environment in tourism sector.
The government has established a smoke-free environment working group to work directly with key stakeholders to ensure that tourism is developing into a “green and smoke-free” industry.
Last year, Cambodia received some 6.61 million foreign tourists, a 6.6 percent year-on-year increase. AKP
