Ancient pedestal unearthed at Prasat Tonle Snguot temple

Apsara Authority’s Artistic Conservation and Maintenance Working Group confirmed today that the pedestal which was unearthed at a temple belonged to the huge guard statue found three years ago in Siem Reap province.

The Research Institute of Technology of Cambodia and the Singapore Institute of Southeast Asian Studies conducted an excavation at Prasat Tonle Snguot temple and unearthed six pieces of the guard statue with head, arms, legs, and earrings on July 30, 2017.

Apsara Authority said in a statement today that experts will put the pedestal with its guard statue discovered three years ago.

“Currently, art conservation and repair team is preparing to put this piece with its body being repaired at the Angkor Conservation Center,” it said.
