Two teenagers drowned while one was rescued on Monday when their boat capsized in the tributary of the Mekong river in Prey Veng province’s Ba Phnom district, police said.
Sdao Korng commune police chief captain Tep Phat on Tuesday said that the incident occurred at about 2pm on Monday in the commune’s Thmey village.
Cap Phat identified the deceased as Bou Reaksmey, 12, Seng Bun Kheang, 14, and the survivor as Ponlork Meng, 15.
“The victims took a small boat to cross the tributary of the Mekong river but the boat sank when it almost reached the bank,” Cap Phat said.
