Boeung Ket’s Chan Vathanaka made his long awaited return to the club on Saturday helping the club to a 4-0 win over Asia Europe United in their Metfone C-League second round clash at National Stadium.
Coach Hao Socheat entrusted the attacking triumvirate of Julius Oiboh, Samuel Gbenga, and Maycon Calijuri with Vathanaka left on the bench to make a substitute appearance late in the game. Oiboh and Maycon both notched two each, Oiboh scoring his brace in the first half, Maycon grabbing two in the second period.
The 24-year old Vathanaka was previously at Pahang of the Malaysian Super League – although it was a spell he would want to forget. His stint at Pahang FA came to an abrupt end in April, a little under five months after making a high profile switch to the MSL club. He announced his return to BK last weekend.
The win for BK sees the defending champs continue atop the league although Naga, who won their away tie to understrength Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng 4-0 at the Svay Rieng Stadium, continue to chase the back-to-back champs.
Phnom Penh Crown had Yeu Muslim to thank as the youngster scored a winner two minutes into injury time in their encounter against Soltilo Angkor in Siem Reap. Crown’s new Brazilian acquisition Valci Junior headed the opening goal on his debut, although Dzarma Bata’s penalty canceled out the strike.
In yesterday’s afternoon matches Visakha hit four with new signing Keo Sokpheng starting, and scoring, in attack. National Police also hit four as they handed Western another galling defeat.
